Job offer: Doctoral researcher in project C1

 

The DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center ›Production of Migration‹ (SFB 1604) examines the conditions and functions of the social production and negotiation of migration across disciplines. The aim of SFB 1604 is to establish reflexive migration research as an approach to the study of society. The SFB is located at Osnabrück University (Germany) – a uni-versity with diverse research activities that attract students and scientists from all over the world to a city with a high quality of life.

Project ›C1 – The Production of Urban Spaces of Migration by Local Administrations and Science‹ is seeking to appoint

Doctoral Researcher (m/f/d)
(Salary level E 13 TV-L, 75 %)

The position begins as soon as possible and ends on December 31, 2027.

Project C1 investigates the co-production of urban spaces of migration by municipalities and science. It aims at a reflexive analysis of the scientific spatialisation of migration in cities and urban neighbourhoods and its interrelation with the spatialised knowledge produced in and by cities. Your Duties:

  • Working on a doctoral thesis on the topic of project C1, ideally on migration-related spatial semantics or on migration-related interaction between urban administration/policy and science
  • Contributing to other case studies of the project
  • Active participation in the SFB's Integrated Research Training Group
  • On-site participation in the events and activities of the SFB in Osnabrück

Requirements:

  • Very good university degree in in a relevant discipline in the Humanities, Cultural and Social Sciences (MA or equivalent)
  • Strong research interest in Migration Studies
  • Excellent English and German language skills

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in interdisciplinary and international cooperation
  • Excellent knowledge of current Urban and Migration Studies
  • A doctoral project that has already been developed on the topic of the SFB project C1
