Policy analysis, gender studies, postcolonial perspectives on migration

 

Since April 2024: Doctoral researcher at the Collaborative Research Centre (Sonderforschungsbereich 1604) 'Production of Migration' in project B3: The Production of Gender Differentiating Migration Policies with a focus on labour migration from South Asia to the Gulf region. Before joining IMIS, Homaira worked at the Civil Society Coordination Office, where she supported the Federal Admission Programme for Afghan refugees seeking refuge in Germany. 

Educational Background:

  • 2020-2023: Master of International Affairs at the Hertie School
  • 2016-2020: German Studies in Cultural Comparison with a focus on linguistics at the University of Heidelberg (B.A)
  • 2015-2019: South Asian Studies at the University of Heidelberg (B.A)

Research topics and interests:

Professional and research experience in Central and South Asian regions, migration and emigration, labour migration to the Gulf States, state legitimacy in Central Asia, policy analysis, gender studies, postcolonial perspectives on migration
